The Lagos State Police Command’s Special Squad Unit has identified another key member of the notorious billionaire-kidnapping gang involved in the violent confrontation with police at Ladipo Market last month. This revelation comes as detectives continue to unravel the extent of the gang’s criminal activities.
The newly identified member, Uzoamaka, is known for his exceptional marksmanship and was regarded as the gang’s sharpest shooter. Uzoamaka’s involvement was confirmed through a detailed investigation led by CSP Kehinde Oni, which also uncovered 42 case files related to the gang’s operations across various police stations in Lagos.
Details of the Final Operation
Before the Ladipo Market raid, the gang kidnapped a wealthy female supermarket owner from Ago Okota, demanding and receiving a ransom of N68 million. CCTV footage from the supermarket captured Uzoamaka scouting the area before the abduction, confirming his crucial role in the operation.
During the Ladipo Market raid, Uzoamaka reportedly fired the first shot when a decoy car blocked the gang’s escape route. The shot was intended to intimidate and clear any obstruction, narrowly missing a police officer by striking the car’s headrest.
Ongoing Investigation
The police continue to investigate and identify all victims involved in the Ladipo Market raid. However, the families of the deceased have been hesitant to come forward. Authorities believe there is still much to uncover about the gang’s extensive operations and are determined to reveal the full truth through further investigation.
