
Fijabi Omotayo, a parent whose son got missing at Babcock University has raised the alarm over the disappearance, Oladipupo Siwajuola, a student of the University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.
In a Facebook live video, she narrated how she dropped her son off at the university on Sunday evening, April 27, 2025, but had not been able to reach or locate him since then.
She appealed to the public and security agencies to assist in finding her son, saying her visit to the school yielded no concrete information on his whereabouts.
“I dropped him off myself on Sunday evening, but for the past three days, I have not been able to sleep. I went to the school, and they told me that students sometimes hide within the premises. Babcock University should please help find my son,” she said.
In an earlier post, she accused the university of withholding information, particularly regarding two students identified as Lampard and Tobiwho she claimed were the last to see her son.
“Babcock University, Ilisan, could you please inform me about the whereabouts of my son, Oladipupo Siwajuola? My family and I should not suffer because of your lack of accountability.”
Following the online outcry, the Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on New Media, Emmanuel Ojo, said he had contacted the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, who also reached out to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo.
According to Ojo, the Vice-Chancellor said he was not aware about the incident until it was reported.
He confirmed that he had received the student’s name, photograph, and related details and assured that the matter would be investigated.
Ojo added that security agencies were already involved and expressed optimism that the issue would be resolved soon.
A source within the university confirmed that the institution’s security department was investigating the matter and had invited the individuals mentioned by the mother for questioning.
The Director of Marketing and Communications for the university, Dr Joshua Suleiman, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
Suleiman said, “The school is aware of the case, it is being handled by our security department, it is under investigation.”
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, also confirmed the case, saying it was reported to the police on Saturday.
