Professor Grace Olapeju Otinwa of the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education has won two research grants.

The Professor of Exercise Physiology is the Principal Investigator of two research teams, through which she successfully applied for research collaborations with institutions in the United Kingdom and Australia respectively.

Details of the grant awards are as follows:

AWARD 1

Research Grant Title:        “Physical Activity Pattern, Dietary Intake and Fitness Status of Children Living in Rural and Urban Setting in Nigeria: Nigeria – LINX Project”.

Principal Investigator:     Professor Grace Olapeju Otinwa.

Team Members:                 Mcpherson Ogunsemore, Mercy Onwuama, Chinedu Azubuike, Gbenga Ajibola, Toba Bamitale, Boluwaji Jaiyesimi, Afolabi Fasoranti, Folasade Airebamen, Habeeb Owolabi, Boluwatife Salami, Ekundayo Ajiborisade and Musiliu Owolewa.

Partnership Institution:  Swansea University, United Kingdom.

Fund Grant:                         £10,000.

AWARD 2

Research Grant Title:        “National Study of 24-Hour Movement Behaviours in the Early Years: The Sunrise Project in Nigeria”.

Principal Investigator:     Professor Grace Olapeju Otinwa.

Team Members:                 Adeyemi R. Awopetu, Mercy Onwuama, Ekundayo Ajiborisade, Boluwatife Salami and Emike Daniel.

Partnership Institution:  University of Wollongong, Australia.

Professor Grace Otinwa is the current Director of the Quality Assurance and Service Unit of the University of Lagos.
