The Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS, received the Nigeria Senior Men’s Cricket Team on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the Cricket Pitch, UNILAG Sports Centre.

The Team is using the newly renovated UNILAG Cricket Pitch to practice for the forthcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) Sub-Regional qualifiers, South Africa, to be held in September 2021. The Nigeria Cricket Federation began the Senior Men’s camp in Lagos, Nigeria at the University of Lagos and is billed to complete training by Monday, May 3, 2021 at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Cricket Oval.

The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the team for choosing to commence their training at the University of Lagos. He informed them of the recent renovations carried out on the pitch and disclosed that the University envisages that the pitch will be completed in time for the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) Games.

It is worthy of note, that the Fitness and Conditioning Coach as well as two of the players in the Nigeria Senior Men’s Cricket Team are UNILAG alumni.

As the team continues its rigorous practice, the Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the University community wishes them success in all their games.
