Kebbi State Government has concluded arrangement to provide free drugs to pregnant women and children in all medical facilities across the state.
The wife of Kebbi State Governor, Dr.Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu stated this at a town hall meeting organized by breakthrough Action Nigeria in collaboration with the State Ministry of Health,Medicaid Cancer Foundation and other partner agencies.
Dr.Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu said the state government was committed to providing effective healthcare service delivery to the people and urged pregnant women to go for Ante-Natal Care (ANC) to ensure delivery in the hospital and immunise their children.
Speaking on Corona Virus pandemic, the wife of the governor urged people to take preventive measures against the disease and avoid any act that will make them contact the disease.
She commended Breakthrough Action Nigeria and other partner agencies for their support and thanked women in Yeldu for patronizing Health facilities and participating actively in the dialogue.The wife of the Governor also commended Health Officials and care givers for doing their job.
Speaking earlier, the Executive Secretary State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Abubakar Attahiru Kaoje said Dr.Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu has been the vanguard of ensuring effective Healthcare delivery to people and called on women in Yeldu and its environs to continue to patronize the services of Health facilities which is provided free of charge.
He said the wife of the governor recently facilitated the donation of One Million Pampers to Pregnant women and children in the state by Procta and Gamble company.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Aisha Mohammad Maikurata , the Public Relation Officer of High Level Women Advocates (HILWA), Hajiya Binta Abdul-Hamid spoke on the need to promote Girl Child Education, enrollment drive of Girl Child sponsored by Dr.Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu and the need for women to go for Ante-Natal Care, delivery in Health facilities and immunise their children, as well as imbibe the habit of regular hand washing.
The Chairman of Arewa Local Government Council, Alhaji Mohammed Garba Yeldu, his wife, Hajiya Maryam Muhammed Garba and the District Head of Yeldu, Alhaji Lawali Yakubu commended the wife of the governor, Dr.Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu and Breakthrough Action Nigeria for their support to the people.
Highlights of the occasion included, dialogue anchored by Malama Halima Abubakar Tahir on the need for pregnant women to go for Ante-Natal Natal Care, deliver in Health facilities, immunise their children, exclusive breastfeeding, use of mosquito nets and demonstration to people on steps and procedures of hand washing, presentation of grinding machines, textile materials,soap, pomade , toothpaste, pads among other things to women and children in the area.
