Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, on Wednesday commissioned the newly built Sokoto Untra modern diagnostic centre.
The Governor expressed his happiness for being the choosing one in commissioning the project, which he described as a benefiting projects.
He commend the Sultan of Sokoto for taking keen interest in the governance of the state, saying his advise is one of the brain behind the construction of the centre.
Okowa also commend his host, Governor Tambuwal, for putting the project on ground which he said is for the benefit of the people of the states.
He described Tambuwal’s relationship with the people of Sokoto State, both indigenes and non-indigenes as one that should be emulate by all leaders across the country.
He called on Nigerians to continue to pray against any crisis including those calling for separation in the country, saying the country is stronger together as one.
He however called governor Tambuwal to look into the advice of Sultan on how to make the centre affordable to everyone in the state.
Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, in his address said the diagnostic centre is a product of consultation with the Sultan of Sokoto.
He said he took it upon himself since the commencement of his administration to seek advice from Sultan before the preparation of the budget every year.
He reminded his guest, Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, that the cultural troupe and others from different part of the country are all residents of Sokoto going by their staying in the state.
He said Sokoto State Government takes care of every residents of the state as indigene with all the benefits of Sokoto indegenes including free education up to secondary school level.
He commend Okowa for his laudable projects in Delta State while calling on all Nigerians to stop joining politics with good governance saying he believes in good governance irrespective of the political parties.
He said the centre will run on public private partnership with the state subsidizing the cost of the treatment of every individuals who visited the centre for treatment.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, in his remarks said in about two years ago he raised the idea with Tambuwal of a diagnostic centre to be construcred in the state by the three governors of Sokoto, kebbi and Zamfara States and he promised to talk to his colleagues in the two other states..
He said to his suprised, the governor in his budget presentation prepared the construction of this diagnostic centre in his budget. “I was so elated and today I’m part of the people commissioning this laudable projects”.
He urged the governor and government of the state to make the centres affordable to ordinary Nigerians irrespective of wherever the person’s comes from.
He assured the government that the Sultanate council and the people of the state will take care the project like their personal projects.
Speaking earlier, the state Commissioner for health, Dr Alli Muhammed Inname, described the centre as part of the determination of the state government to positively transform the lives of the people of the state in all facets of human endeavours.
He said the centre will no doubt reduce many patients traveling outside the state and abroad in search of reliable comprehensive diagnostic and allied healthcare service.
Tribuneonlie gathered that the advanced diagnostic centre comprises of Radio-diagnostics and Laboratory services, CT and MRI Scanners, Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy.
Others includes Echo-cardiograhy Mammography, X-rays, Dental, ENT as well as Eye care units. It will also serve as referral center for all the state hospitals and that of the neighboring states
