Sokoto State government has urged nursing mothers across the state to take issue of maternal health with all seriousness it deserves.

The State Commissioner of health Dr Muhammad Ali Inname, stated this while flagging off the Maternal Newborn Child Health Week (MNCHW) at the Bodinga town dispensary, Bodinga Local Government area of Sokoto State.

Speaking while delivering his key note address at the event, the Commissioner admonished the nursing mothers to take maternal health issues seriously.

He said  state government under the leadership of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has put in place mechanisms  to address issues related to child birth in the state.

He therefore urged the women and care givers to avail themselves of this opportunity by ensuring that they access adequate health care at the facilities right from the moment of  conception up to the post natal stage in order to ensure their wellbeing.

Owning to the efforts of the government at all levels in addressing maternal related health issues, Inname also tasked the health workers for due diligence and efficient service delivery in order to reciprocate government efforts.

The program was organized by State primary health care development agency in collaboration with Breakthrough Action Nigeria (BA-N).
