Yobe: NGO Trains MDAs On Capacity, Data Management.

As part of efforts to improve effective budgetary system in ministries, departments and agencies, a Non- Governmental Organisation

NGO, known as Connected Development (CODE) has trained civil servants on effective data management in Yobe state.

The programme which took place at Damaturu Tuesday was aimed at developing the capacity of the workers on the modern way of keeping data. Community Engagement Manager, Morakinyo Busayo, said “we are here to train some selected MDAs staff on how to use data in their budgeting. system to develop quality programs to their respective communities”.

“Their work is integral to the local communities and without data from such communities, it will not be possible to create policies that could benefit the communities”, he said. He added that there was a very huge gap in the area of education, health and water sanitation and hygiene which need to be addressed. “Over 13.2m children are out of school in Nigeria; over 120 Nigerians

defecate openly without toilets, apart from the high infant mortality rate “.

Usman Bisallah and Abdullahi Abubakar, who were participants at the training thanked CODE for the knowledge acquired saying it will help them improve and fast track decision making while performing their duties. The participants were drawn from State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Rural Water and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) and Primary Healthcare Management Agency.
