The Ambassador of Japan in Nigeria Amb. Yutaka Kikuta has inaugurated a an upgraded Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) in Ikola, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos state.

The event which took place over the weekend was part of the Japanese commitment towards the provision of quality Health care services for Nigeria.

In his speech, Amb Yutaka said it was dearth of adequate medical facilities in the community which has led to the death of so many pregnant women and children over the years who were either referred to far away hospitals and died on the way or who never had medical attention at the abandoned health center that necessitated the upgrade of the health Center .

Yutaka said, Under the scheme of Grant Assistance for Grassroots security Project (GGP), the Japanese embassy in collaboration with Street To School Initiatives( S2S) came on board to rescue the people from further agonies.

According to him “the embassy has over two decades implemented 164 projects in various regions of the country which has improved the quality of life for the people. I am pleased to launch and hand over this project to the community for the improvement of Ikola residents.” he stated.

The Ambassador further charged the community leaders, others on maintenance culture towards the facilities saying that the health center has all the necessary equipments, office furniture as well as power generating set for electricity and a mosquito repellent paints used on the wall to protect in- patients against mosquitoes invasion and malaria spread, he therefore cautioned that nothing must be missing “the care and maintenance of these well equipped facility is in your hands, and I hope this project will contribute to the well-being of Nigerians at large” he stressed.
