The deputy governor of Abia state, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has commended the Methodist Church Nigeria, MCN on its strives to promote the health status, wellness and wellbeing of Abians.
Sir Oko Chukwu who made the commendation during the 2021 Covenant Service of the Aba East Diocese of the Methodist Church Nigeria held at Graceland Owerre Aba, Ohanku in Ugwunagbo LGA, also lauded the MCN for partnering and complementing government’s efforts at bringing health Care to Abians.
Sir Oko Chukwu described the proposed establishment of the Graceland Ultramodern Specialist Eye Hospital project as a welcome development and timely with the attendant pressure of addressing the health needs of the populace.
The deputy governor used the forum to reassure the people that government will soon address the perennial bad road network transversing the area as the Governor, Dr Okezie lkpeazu has given approval and directed the commencement of the construction of Ohanku, Obohia and Ngwa roads and solicits that the synergy and collaboration existing between the present administration and the Methodist Church in the development of the state be intensified for the common good of all.
He described the Theme of the 2021 Covenant Service “Watch And Pray” as very apt in view of the awful experiences and developments witnessed last year including Boko Haram insurgencies, banditry, kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, the global Covid-19 pandemic and its second wave variant among other forms of criminality and called on christians to always watch and pray to avert the dangers and schemes of the enemy.
Also speaking, the chairman of Ugwunagbo council area, Mrs Joy Nnanta, her lsiala Ngwa South counterpart, Chief lke Anyatonwu and the second deputy chairman, Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Nnamdi Harry Ugwuala said they are blessed to have the Eye Hospital that will benefit everybody in Ugwunagbo, state and beyond in their area and prayed for the speedy realization of the project.
In his address, the Bishop of Aba East Diocese, Rt Rev Dr James Anyanwu who stated that the service was part of their yearly requirements to renew their Covenant relationship with God, disclosed that the service further affords them the opportunity to raise funds for the completion of the Graceland Ultramodern Specialist Eye Hospital to cater for the visually impaired and inspired better eye care management culture in Nigeria.
The Guest Preacher, the Very Rev Dr Ejekeme Ibegbulam also offered special prayers for the deputy governor and the state government as well as prophetic declarations for the continued peace and progress of the State.
