Acting CGI, Adepoju Storms Illela Boarder to confirm level of compliance

.. To take fights to bandits hideout

The acting Comptroller General of Immigration, CG Caroline Wuraola Adepoju, on Wednesday storms Illela local government to ascertain the level of compliance in the Illela border post.

Speaking while addressing newsmen at the entry post between Nigeria and Niger Republic, the acting CG expressed happiness at the level of compliance at the border post.

She commended men and officers at the Illela command as well as other sisters security agencies for their synergy of doing a tangible job in ensuring that the level of compliance at the border post is uptimum.

“I am here to see the level of compliance here and I must confessed that what I saw is commendable as both my personnel and those of other sister security agencies are cooperating perfectly.

“All the land border between Nigeria and Niger Republic were closed for security reasons and will remain so until the level of security in Niger Republic.

“I want to appeal to our host community here in Illela to be patient with the government because security of lives is very important to the government and we will do everything to protect our people”

She however assured that the command has put in place measure to protect lives of personnel from any further attacks from bandits and other criminals.

Adepoju further disclosed that more personnel has been deployed to some of the areas not covered before now along the border towns which she explained will improve the security not only in Sokoto State but also across the country.

Meanwhile , the CGI has promised to take the fights to the hideout of suspected bandits in the state to attack and crush them.

She said the NIS is ready to collaborate with other sister security agencies including the Nigerian Army and the Police in taking the fights to the bandits in their hideout.

She stated this while addressing newsmen shortly after visiting the state governor, Ahmed Aliyu, in his office at the government house.

“I am annoyed that two of my men were killed by these bandits and I am not ready to fold my hands and watch them

“Those people were enemy of this country by always disturbing the piece we enjoyed and we won’t take it easy with them anymore.

“I am going to work with the Army and other security agencies to ensure we deal with these bandits who disturb the peace of the country”

Earlier while addressing the Sokoto State governor, Ahmed Aliyu, during a courtesy visit to his office, the acting CG commend the governor for his cooperation with security agents in the state.

She however solicit the support of the governor in terms of logistics such as donation of patrol vehicles to the command to make his officers access more hideouts in the state.

She also call on the residents of the state to collaborate with security agents by giving intelligence, “it will help us in achieving our set goals ” she added.

The Comptroller General as part of his schedule also visited the injured officers of the command who were receiving treatment at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital Sokoto where she assured them that NIS will ensure they receive maximum treatment.

Meanwhile, as at when our correspondent visited the Illela border area on Wednesday, movement of vehicles and goods still prohibited as scores of trailers returning back to the country still stranded at the border post not knowing when they will be given permission to enter into the country.
