…As South East is excluded in a seven man operational planning
Ahead of Friday’s formal presentation of the new Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba to President Muhammadu Buhari, the IGP has constituted a 7 man committee headed by a Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tijani Baba to evolve a new operational plan towards curtailing internal security threats to the country.
In a leaked signal number SB.0900/IGP.SEC/ABJ /VOL.66/345 sent to all police formations, the 7 man committee has no officer from the Southeast region, thus raising the suspicion that a full fledged war is being planned against the Southeast.
The IGP tasked the committee to also “review the security situation of the country in relation to insurgency and banditry secessionist threats.
“Examine current strategies; evolve a new operational plan towards curtailing internal security threats to the country; determine, manpower and materials needed to execute the operations, and cost implication.”
Other members of the committee include AIGPOL Habu Sani, AIGPOL John Abang, COMPOL Sadiq Idris Abubarkar, DECOMPOL Adepoju Ilori,
The committee is expected to meet 4pm today (Thursday) at IGP’s Conference Room to harmonise the document to be presented to the President on Friday.
It is believed that the IGP has his plans focused on how to police the Southeast with the security challenges currently being witnessed in the region resulting to attacks on police facilities and personnel.
