In recognition of his immense contribution towards professionalism in the agricultural sector in Nigeria, the National Executive Council of the Agricultural Society of Nigeria has nominated the Provost, Arochukwu College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu(ACETA) Dr. Phillip Nto for its highest honour of Fellow of the Society.

Prior to his appointment as Provost, Dr. Nto was the immediate past Commissioner for Finance and Economic planning Abia State under the administration of Chief Theodore Orji, a World Bank Consultant and at various times senior lecturer, department of agricultural economics at various institutions of higher learning including the famous Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

The award will be conferred on him among other prominent members of the society at a colourful ceremony during the 52nd Annual Conference of the Society scheduled to hold on October 23rd 2018 at the University of Abuja main Campus, Gwagwalada, Abuja.

A letter addressed to the provost, signed by Chris Onwuka, Chairman Agricultural Society of Nigeria Awards Committee and obtained by the media, while congratulating Dr. Nto on the well-deserved award also noted that the recipient has raised the flag of the society higher in various capacities as an academic, former commissioner and administrator of repute.

“It is on the recognition of your immense contributions in various capacities to human development in society at various levels that the society found you fit among recipients of the prestigious award; accept our congratulations “the statement said.

Nto is also reputed to have revitalized the once ailing College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu having introduced sweeping changes and reforms that has positioned the institution among top technical colleges in Nigeria.
