Contractors handling various projects in the state have been charged to ensure strict adherence to deadlines set for completion and delivery of projects in their purview, in line with the Completion Agenda of the administration.

These were parts of resolutions at the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Udom Emmanuel, on Tuesday, at the Exco Chambers, Government House, Uyo.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Ini Ememobong, briefing Government House Correspondents, said the Council was pleased with the report of completion of work on the Dakkada Towers and has further directed relevant government agencies to commence the process of leasing out the state-owned twenty-one storey smart building to interested tenants.

The State Executive Council was satisfied with reports received on the pace of work at the ongoing projects but charged contractors handling various projects in the state to ensure strict adherence to deadlines set for completion and delivery of the projects in their purview, in line with the administration’s Completion Agenda.

Furthermore, the Executive Council, mandated that the visitation panel handling labour issues in the Akwa Ibom State University henceforth exclude the former and present Vice Chancellors of the institutions.

The council also approved the proposal for the remodelling of the Ibom Plaza, to be carried out on a Public-Private Partnership basis.

Following a report on the recent Covid19 vaccines by the Commissioner for Health, the state executive council appreciated the Federal Government for the first batch of Vaccines to the State and directed that the vaccines be administered in strict compliance with the protocol outlined by the health authorities.

A white paper on the report of the Commission of Inquiry on the Civil disturbances between Ikot Akpan Udo and Amazaba communities of Akwa Ibom State was received and accepted even as the state government frowned at frequent communal clashes witnessed in the state, and vowed to deal with everyone found culpable.
