Another body recovered in Goronyo boat mishap, search, rescue intensified

Sokoto State emergency officials have confirmed the recovery of another body from the scene of the recent boat mishap at Kojiyo River in Goronyo Local Government Area.

The recovery was made on Thursday as the combined search and rescue team continues operations to account for all the victims of the tragedy.

The joint team, which comprises the Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), and local divers, has remained at the site of the incident, working round the clock to trace the remaining missing passengers.

The state government has also appealed for calm, pledging continued support to the affected families while reiterating its commitment to improving safety on waterways across the state.
