The All Progressive Congress (APC) , in Sokoto State  has urged Sokoto State government to as a matter of urgency dropped it’s plan  to privatize  the state central market.
The party in a press briefing held at its secretariat on Sunday by the chairman of the party in the state, Isa Sadiq Acida, said the move if unchecked will open Sokoto business community to undue financial exploitation.
Acida said the party oppose the privatization of the Sokoto central market because of its importance to ordinary people of the state.
According to Acida, “by so doing, our business community will be open to undue financial exploitation.
“The action will be most unkind, because this is the only administration in the history of Sokoto State that has failed in it’s duty of providing conducive business environment”
He said instead the state government has decided to surrender them to private financial institutions whose sole interest is profit maximization.
The party however called on the state  government to reconsider it’s decision and borrow a leaf from it’s predecessors “who have left a legacy of conducive environment for commerce and industry in the state”
