An officer of the Kwara State Police Command, identified simply as Mr Ezra, has been reportedly kidnapped by armed bandits in Patigi Local Government Area of the state.
The development was confirmed by the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.
The command’s spokesman revealed that Ezra, attached to the Lade Division, was abducted early Thursday morning while returning to his base from official duty at Patigi General Hospital.
The spokesperson, in a chat with Daily Post, on Thursday, said the motorcycle of the abducted officer was found along the road to his residential apartment.
She added that efforts are ongoing to rescue the officer from captivity and apprehend the criminals
Patigi-Lade road has gained notoriety in recent times for frequent criminal attacks.
The abduction has heightened concerns over growing insecurity in Patigi and its environs, with renewed calls for stronger security measures to protect lives and property.
In June, 2025, gunmen killed the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lade Ward in the LGA, Alhaji Abdullahi Shehu, his son, Abdullahi Mohammad, as well as one Timothy Paul, a resident of the village.
Similarly, a 12-year-old girl identified as Hassana Abdullahi was kidnapped at Aiyetoro Fulani Camp in Lile village in the same ward.
Also, in August 2025, gunmen suspected to be bandits killed a resident, identified as Alhaji Gomina, shortly after evening prayers in Lade community, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
