The border conflict between Isu Community in Abia State and Ukwa Community in Cross River took a tragic turn over the weekend as Mrs. Blessing Kalu Elem lost her life in a brutal raid, allegedly orchestrated by invaders from the neighboring Ukwa. Otti assured the community of measures to enhance security and infrastructure in the area, promising medical assistance for the wounded and compensation for the affected families. The Governor also expressed condolences to the bereaved and emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of its citizens.
The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, joined the Governor during the visit, underlining the security agencies’ resolve to address the situation and maintain peace in the region. The tragedy underscores the urgent need for a lasting solution to the border dispute to prevent further loss of life and restore stability to the affected communities.
