…Constructs 100 Housing Units, Vocational Training Center

The Borno State Commissioner  of  Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR),  Engineer Mustapha Gubio accompanied by Hon (Dr) Mairo Mandara Special Adviser and Coordinator Humanitarian Services,  Hajiya Yabawa Kolo ,Chairperson, BOSEMA and State Coordinator MCRP,  Hon Babazanna Abdulkarim were in Auno today to resettle Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)  from Auno Community who were displaced since April 2020 after series of attacks by Boko Haram Insurgents.

It could be recalled that on 9th Febuary 2020, Auno Community had faced series of attacks which led to the death of over 80 persons, houses  were destroyed and property worth millions of naira where also destroyed and chatted away by the Insurgents.

The incident compelled  the Borno State Governor , Professor Babagana Umara Zulum  to visit the scene of attack and assured the victims prompted attention.

Sequel to his promises, Governor Zulum during his visit to the Bank of Industry headquarters in Abuja few months ago  accompanied by Dr Mairo Mandara secured the funding of rebuilding the destroyed buildings and construction of new housing units for the  Auno Community.

Subsequently, Professor Zulum directed the  Borno  State Ministry of Reconstruction,  Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR) to swing into action  to rebuild and resettle the  IDPs.

The Commissioner , Engr Mustapha Gubio has successfully  completed the reconstruction and building of the said housing units and commenced the resettlement process  today.

Dr Mairo Mandara while presenting the allocation letters  to the individual beneficiaries of the newly constructed houses said,  skills aquisition programme will also  be provided for the  women and  youths  while urging them to be self reliant and focused on their farming activities to better their livelihoods as well live a normal life.

Engr Gubio and the team also proceeded to inspect an ongoing construction of a Vocational Training Center  for  the construction of Soft Skills  Acquisition Centre supported by Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi Foundation in Auno Community along Maiduguri-Damaturu Road near Njimtilo Community and BOSU.

The  vocational training center project was  almost  at completion stage of 95% which consists of different vocational training  skills aquisition in building construction and other households skills, basically for females.
