 …Commends Zamfara Gov For Ruga Settlement

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Tukur Buratai, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of work in the Ruga Settlement in Zamfara state.  Buratai who commended the Zamfara state governor, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle, after a guided tour of the Ruga project, in company of the state governor, yesterday in Zamfara , said establishing the settlement was a right step in the right direction.

The army chief also commended the governor for his initiative in addressing “the root cause of the perennial Herders/Farmers clashes” which resulted in loss of lives and wanton destruction of properties.

In a statement by the army spokesman, Col Sagir Musa, Buratai urged other state governors to emulate Matawalle in providing infrastructure for their people and also engage their youths meaningfully t tackle the problem of insecurity in their area. Buratai, according to the statement “observed that on completion, the RUGa project will provide ample opportunities for youth employment, agricultural activities and industrialization in Zamfara state. All these activities will impact positively on the welfare and wellbeing of the people of Zamfara state in particular and Nigeria in general”.

In his remarks, the governor called on bandits to surrender their arms and embrace the state government’s peace negotiation.

Speaking at the palace of the emir of Maradun Buratai stressed the resolve of the Nigerian Army to tackle banditry and sundry crimes in the axis through the establishment of Special Army Super Camps in Batsari and Faskari, adding that “the security threats and other vices will soon be addressed”.

The Super Camps according to the statement are designed to plan and project raids and offensive operations against identified bandits’ hideouts and routes.
