Atiku-Abubakar-July-3-2018

The deposition of officials of the Chicago State University (CSU) over Bola Tinubu’s academic records has been slated for Monday, September 25, 2023.

Both parties are said to have agreed that two days after the release of Tinubu’s academic records might not give room for enough preparation.

Tinubu’s records are expected to be released tomorrow (Thursday), according to a court order.

It would be recalled that on Tuesday, a United States District Court in the Northern District of Illinois granted the request made by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, for the release of President Bola Tinubu’s academic records by Chicago State University.

In a ruling delivered by US Magistrate, Judge, Jeffrey Gilbert on Tuesday, the court ordered CSU to provide “all relevant and non-privileged documents” to the Wazirin Adamawa within two days.

PointblankNews.com reports that barely two weeks after the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) affirmed Tinubu’s victory, Atiku and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, swiftly filed 86 grounds of appeal at the Supreme Court to nullify the judgment.

The two candidates in separate appeals filed on Tuesday, asked the apex court to set aside the PEPC ruling and nullify Tinubu’s election, describing the verdict as erroneous.

During the deposition, Atiku’s lawyers would seek to obtain testimony from witnesses from CSU under oath to authenticate Tinubu’s credentials. It’s part of the discovery process by which parties gather facts and information.

Tinubu had unsuccessfully attempted to prevent the US Court from listening to the prayers of Atiku and Obi, claiming that the information sought by the politicians bother on his privacy.
