The Commamder , Training and Doctrine Command(TRADOC) of the Nigerian Army , Major General Kelvin Aligbe recently orgainsed a send off party in honour of his predecessor , Major General Stevenson Olabanji (rtd)who is retiring from active service after 35 years of meritorous service to the Nation.
In his valedatory Speech during the event which took place at TRADOC Officers Mess , General Olabanji described his sojourn in the Nigerian Army (NA) as a fullfilled one having served the NA meritorously.
He described his experience in the Nigerian Army as mind blowing one which he said provided opportunity to gather more knowledge, exposure , and experience. ” The experience gathered in my 35 years of millitary service is unquantifiable and i am very proud that i am leaving the NA a fulfilled person”, he said.
He reiterated that the service to the NA has been a glorious and blessed one leading to his attainment to the enviable rank of Major General before his retirement.
He thanked Officers, soldiers and civilian staff for thier support throughout his tour of duty in TRADOC. NA .
Earlier in his remarks , the Commander TRADOC NA, Major General Aligbe while congratulating General Olabanji and other retiring senior officers for a successful career in the NA thanked them for building a bridge of sound administration for those coming behind. He described General Olabanji as an exceptional senior officer whom he said mentored a sizeable number of officers and soldiers of the NA. He applauded him for his impactiful tour of duty in TRADOC NA adding that the retiring Commander is a dedicated and seasoned Infantry General whose legacies would remain as refrences for those coming behind.
In his welcome address, the Acting Director Exams , TRADOC NA , Brig Gen Nwamba said the event is to honour the retired Commander TRADOC whom he said contributed immensely in repositioning TRADOC NA to greater height. He added that the former Commander during his tenure embarked on several major projects that have gave TRADOC NA a face lift. Similarly, some posted out Senior officers were also recognised during the colourful and memorable occassion.
Highpoints of the event were goodwill mesaages, presentation of momento and gifts to the retiring Senior Officers among others.
Dignitaries that graced the occassion include former Commander Corps of Infantry, Major General Victor Ezugwu, former Commander, Nigerian Army Corps of Engineers, Major General Festus Owolabi, and former Commander 4 Brigade Benin Brigadier General Gaje. Others are Commanders of Sister Securities and Heads of Security and Intelligence Agencies in Niger State, principal Staff Officers from TRADOC NA among others.
