Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan has been appointed by ECOWAS as special envoy to crisis-ridden Mali.

The appointment was conveyed to him by the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Jean- Claude Brou.

According to a statement by the former Nigerian Leader’s media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan is to depart Nigeria on Wednesday for Bamako, the Mailan capital.

He will meet with that country’s president, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, and representatives of the opposition, who have been protesting in the past few weeks, asking the president to step down for what they call, poor leadership and alleged parliamentary election fraud.
