Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has condemned what he described as a “vicious media campaign” allegedly orchestrated by the opposition against the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.

In a statement posted on his social media handle on Wednesday, Fani-Kayode said the attacks were “shameless and nauseating,” insisting that Matawalle had demonstrated exceptional loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and an uncommon commitment to the fight against terrorism.

He credited the partnership between Matawalle and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu with significant gains in the war against terrorists.

According to him, the combined efforts of both officials “have resulted in the killing of more terrorists in the last two years than in the previous eight put together,” although he claimed the achievement had not been adequately communicated to the public.

Fani-Kayode also expressed confidence in the newly appointed Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, describing him as an “extremely efficient” former Chief of Defence Staff whose collaboration with Ribadu and Matawalle would intensify the government’s ongoing security reforms.

He urged Matawalle to stay focused amid what he called efforts to “discredit and undermine him,” praising the minister as a “ruthless and courageous fighter” who shows no mercy to enemies of the state.

“I urge him to keep up the good fight, to do our nation proud and to give the enemies and troublers of our nation hell,” Fani-Kayode said.

He concluded by assuring Matawalle of his support, adding, “We are with you my brother and more importantly God is behind you.”
