Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, and an international security expert, Professor Isaac Albert, have advised the Federal Government to look inward for solution to security challenges facing the country, instead of seeking support from international community.
Fayemi, who is the chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum, said that the security challenges were surmountable if Nigerians battled them with honesty, purpose, dedication and determination.
The duo spoke at a symposium organised to mark the 45th birthday anniversary of Honourable Shina Peller who represents Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
The symposium titled: “National Security and Peace” was held at the University of Ibadan International Conference Centre, Ibadan.
“For me, it is a pleasure and privilege to be here to honour Shina, his family and lead generation initiative. We are all here because we believe in a cause we need to commit ourselves to,” Fayemi said.
Albert, a professor of Peace and Conflict Studies, noted that the government should engage the service of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to educate Nigerians on the need for peace in local communities.
