Sokoto state emergency management agency SEMA has flagged off the distribution of relief materials to this year’s flood victims.
Speaking while flagging off the distribution at Tambuwal and Bodinga local government areas, Special Adviser tontge Governor on State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Zubairu Magaji Albadau said the relief materials include Mattresses, pillow, mosquito net, bags of cement, Blanket, Roofing sheets among others.
He added that the relief materials were donated by the Federal Government in-collaboration with the state government.
Albadau maintained that almost all the 23 local government areas of Sokoto state were affected by the flood noting that 18 of them were mostly affected.
He stressed that in Tambuwal local government area about 1,200 flood victims will benefit from the relief materials while another 1,182 victims in Bodinga local government area were also affected, calling on the victims to use the relief materials judiciously.
Speaking earlier, the Sole administrators of Tambuwal and Bodinga local government areas Alhaji Abdullahi Umar and Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad Danchadi thanked the state and federal government for the support to the victims.
They cautioned the beneficiaries against selling the materials warning that Security agencies will checkmate the selling of the materials and anyone caught will be prosecuted.
On his part, Malam Muhammad Aliyu from NEMA condoled the flood victims adding that the government cannot payback the their lost.
