Major General U M Mohammed on Tuesday in Abuja pleaded to refund all monies he was accused of using his office to divert. The Army General equally pleaded with the Special Court Martial not to commute him to prison sentence, The First Mail online can report.
The First Mail online was reliably informed by a top staff officer that the accused person entered into plea bargain to wriggle out of summary sentence as his trial resumed on Tuesday, October 10, in Officers Mess 1 Asokoro, Abuja.
The accused was seen being wheeled into the Court wearing a black top.
Recall that October 10 had been fixed for sentencing by the Special Court Martial in the case of General U M Mohammed vs Nigerian Army.
He was being tried on charges of stealing, diversion of Army funds and criminal conspiracy.
When sitting resumed at about 1 pm on Tuesday, it was learnt that Major General U M Mohammed did not waste the Court’s time further.
The First Mail online had reported that Major General U M Mohammed was facing 18-count charge of which he was pronounced “guilty as charged” by the President of the Special Court Martial, Major General James Myam, who led the 8-member panel.
The Court adjourned for break.
