A non governmental group called Iwo Development Association, IDA, has condemned the recent hoodlums attack on Iwo local government sectariat.
This is according to a released jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the group, Alhaji Muslim Mutiu and Animashahun Maruf Olakunle, respectively and released to journalists on Saturday.
The group described the attack as unwarranted and uncalled-for by whoever perpetrated the act.
“We indigene of Iwo under the name of Iwo development association, condemned this act of vandalism of our heritage.
“Iwo remains one of the most peaceful local governments in Nigeria for years where our youths always respect the constituted authority.
“It was a saddened development seeing what these set of hoodlums did to our local government where after carted away every items in the sectariat, also set vehicles and other items ablaze.
“We advise whoever did such to immediately returns the items, if they refuse to return them, the long arm of law will surely catch up with them”
The group further condemned the attack on the personal house and farm of the Senator representing Osun West, Senator Olalere Oriolowo.
They described the looting of his house as act of wickedness on the part of the hoodlums.
They called on all well meaning citizens of the town to jointly condemned the act, which it said may discourage investors from bringing developmental projects to Iwo.
They however called on the security agencies to return peace back to the town as well as retrieving all items stolen from the local government sectariat.
The statement also commend Oba Abdulrashid Akanbi, Oluwo of Iwo, for his fatherly role while praying that God will continue to enrich him with wisdom to rule the town.
