The Inspector General of Nigerian  Police has appointed Bala Ciroma as Commissioner of Police of the Federal Capital Territor (FCT), Abuja.

According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah stated that Ciroma holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Geography from the University of Maiduguri and was appointed into the force in March 1990 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

“He is an alumnus of Hong Kong University where he bagged a Post Graduate Certificate in Corruption Studies. He is a member of Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE),” he said.

Ciroma resumed duty at the command headquarters upon taking over from his predecessor Sadiq Abubakar Bello after a handing-over ceremony.

Ciroma was recently posted to take over as the commissioner of police of Plateau state following recent killings in the state but his posting was rescinded. Before then, he was Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) for the FCT Command.
