Senator Abdullahi Ibrahim Gobir, has commended the move taken by the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, over the security situations affecting the state.
The Senator who was reacting to some online media reports, politicising his absence from the meeting, which he said was not a deliberate action
He said his absence at the meeting as regrettable which he said was due to other issues bothering on insecurity in his zone as well as his inability to get a flight .
“The stakeholders meeting was very timely and I support the move wholeheartedly.
“In security issues, there is no party concern as anyone irrespective of their political parties affiliation can be a victim.
“For avoidance of doubt, I support the move taking by the organizers of this stakeholders meeting.
“I want to suggest to the conveingner of the meeting to make it a monthly affair which I believe with that, it will bring a lasting solution to the insecurity problem”
Senator Gobir, who represents Eastern part of the Senatorial district in the where issue of banditry is in the high side, further explained that he as a Senator representing the zone has been making effort at the federal level to bring lasting peace to the state.
“I on my own have been doing a lot, holding meeting with those concerns in security.
“I can assure everyone that this insecurity of a thing as it affects Sokoto East Senatorial district will soon be a thing of the past” he added.
It will be recalled that the state government under the leadership of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, calls a stakeholders meeting comprising of former governors and other political leaders in the state.
The meeting which was held at the international conference centre, Kasarawa, also had in attendance Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, council of Ulama and district heads in the state.
