Sequel to the second closed door meeting of the North East State Govenrors Forum  and 11 Points Communique issued at the end of the forum’s meeting last Saturday in Maiduguri, where security challenges in the north east was the main agenda, the North East Govenrors Forum led by its chairman,  Borno State Govenror, Professor Babagama Umara Zulum stormed the Presidential Villa Abuja Monday for further discussions  with President Buhari and Service Chiefs on  the  security situation in the north east and the country at larger.

As at press time President Muhammadu Buhari is currently  holding meeting with the Northeast  Governors and Service Chiefs as well as other Heads of Security Agencies at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa Abuja.

The meeting which is  being held behind closed doors has Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the  Federal Government of Nigeria (SFGN), Barrister Boss Mustapha, the National Security Adviser  (NSO), Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd), and the Chief of Staff to the President (COS), Professor Ibrahim Gambari and others in attendance.

The Northeast governors  attending the meeting include  Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum, Governor of Adamawa State,  Alhaji Ahmadu  Unaru Fintri;  Governor of Bauchi State,  Dr. Bala Mohammed;  Governor of Gombe State,  Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya; Governor of Taraba state, Darius Dickson Ishaku; and Governor of  Yobe state, Alhaji  Mai Mala Buni.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu and the Director-General, Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi are also in attendance.

Others are  the Director General, National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Rufa’i, the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi, (rtd) and Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji  Mohammad Dingyadi.

The meeting is expected to deliberate  extensively on the lingering Boko Haram  insurgency in the North East and  country at large, armed robbery, armed banditry, kidnapping , rustling and other security  issues bedevilling the region and nation.
