The guber aspirant of the peoples redemption party(PRP), Alhaji Abubakar Udu Idris, has said that, in the first hundred days of his government if elected as governor of Kebbi state, told electorates that, he will restore governance in Kebbi state because there is none so far.
Udu who spoke in Birnin Kebbi, on Saturday during the one day summit organised by Kebbi state forum of civil soceities organizations tagged “unveiling policy documents to electorates” added that, his party after restoring governance in the state will revive the state civil service, which he said is in a comatose state due corruption, nepotism, favourism and stagnation due to lack of professionals, lamenting that, absence of core professionals in the service brought absence of governance, because without right persons at the right places there will be no productivity.
On education, he said that, three key issues must be addressed which he summarised as teachers, teaching aids and environment, these he said will be pursued with vigour under the PRP led government, mass employments of through bred teachers not brief case trained teachers, build more schools, expand existing ones and improve the welfare of the teachers across the state “it is unfornate in some public schools in Kebbi there is a class with over two hundred pupils/students” so will decongest the schools to allow comfort for learning in schools.
In the over thirty minutes presentations, the guber aspirant also pledged to return governance to people, saying the governor is just head of the government, not the government, so they intend to return it to the people by directly involving the govern in the art of governance, he maitained that, contuinity will receive attention under his government as he decried situation where government will sink the public funds only to be abandoned by the successor, all in complete projects and/or abandoned will be revisited and followed up to conclusions.
He noted that, best way to fight poverty is to give local governments autonomy and monitor their financial dealings, revive moribune industries to create jobs, create skills acquicitions centers for youths and the girl-child to discaurage teenage girls street hawking, empower their parents with revolving loans for them to allow them go to school after knowing what they make a month from street hawking.
General Aminu Bande, the PDP guber candidate, in his presentations, told Kebbi the gathering that, if elected governor of Kebbi state, will bring his military experience to ensure security of lives and property in the state, he will also give the local governments financial autonomy saying poverty and crime are co-related so fighting insecurity with endermic poverty will be of no effect, he pledged to fight corruption and ensure even distributions of state resources to bodies for progress and developments in the state.
Social democratic party guber aspirant, Alhaji Atiku mai ahu, in his presentation, promises a fully loaded youth government because is a youth, pledging that, his government will allow independence in the works of government ministries and agencies to ensure productivity, he talked about security, education and agriculture which he said, the SDP led government will pay attention to if elected into ofoffice
Meanwhile, guber aspirant of APC Nasir Idris(NUT) and that of NNPP didnt honour the invitations extended to them by the forum and did not as well send their representatives.
