Kebbi State national union of teachers (NUT) has called on kebbi government to expedite action towards the implementation of the 30,000 national minimum wage approved by the federal government.
The call was made by the branch chairman of Birnin Kebbi local government Malam Umar Ibrahim (vice) in his office in Birnin Kebbi, he said since the partial wage increase of seven thousand naira that was added to state workers and secondary schools teachers not a dime was added to primary teachers who gives basic education to pupils.
The Unionist lamented that, Kebbi government turned deaf ears on the cries of primary teachers bordering on understaffing, lack of furniture, promotion and promotion implementations for primary schools teachers.
He maitained that, most primary schools particularly in the rural areas had blown off roofs pupils cant study once the sun rises to some degrees, though he said some are being renovated but very many requires the government attention to function as schools.
According to him most schools in the state capital are in good shape but are unfortunately lacking adequate teachers and teaching aids,he urged the state government to recruit more teachers, improve their welfare as the only guarantee for a free and qualitative primary education in the state.
In a similar development, Umar called on Bagudu to be the first to implement the new teachers salary scale approved by the federal government.
