Reacting to the recent clashes between residents of Ibadan and Hausa traders which claimed some lives, the Kebbi State branch chairman of National Youth Caucus of Nigeria (NYCN) Sanusi Bala Dan Unno has called on northern youth residing in Ibadan and other parts of southern Nigeria not to revenge the attacks on them.

According to him, leaders from the north are aware of their plights and are ready to seek peaceful means of resolving the crisis. “We were trained with brotherhood and best moral conducts, we will not be pushed to throw it away, our quietness does not mean fear but our collective resolve to stop the escalation of the ethnic clashes that if left unabated can degenerate into something that words alone cannot control,” he said.

Bala urged leaders of the region to call their wards to order adding that no region can stand alone. He described the carnage as a huge threat to our unity fought by our heroes past, and frowned at the way politicians are using youth as sacrificial lambs to achieve selfish political goals.

Amid tensions in the country the north will remain peaceful and law abiding, he added, urging that the Yoruba leadership should expedit action towards unearthing the cause of the unwarranted civil disobedience carried out by charlatants.

While commending the federal government efforts to maintain peace he urged them to be alive to their responsibility of protecting lives and properties of citizens where they choose to live.
