As part of contributions to their host community the National youth service corps community development group named education development in Kebbi state has launched an adult literacy classes in Birnin kebbi to help combat the surging illiteracy in Birnin kebbi and its environs through free literacy classes.

This  was contained in a statement made available to journalists by the public relation officer of the group Destok Joshua Andrew,according to him the beneficiaries of the programme include Almajiris,tricycle riders, okada riders another beneficiaries are aged women and  men of the community.

Andrew added that, the rationale behind the creation of the adult literacy classes is to make the people of kebbi state to feel the positive impact of their stay in kebbi state as corps members, main subjects of the adult class include basic english language, mathematics and hausa.

To champion it the CDS group requires the support of members of the public, the private sector and government through grants for the programme to be sustained and reach the target beneficiaries.

The image maker said that, the programme was lunched in November 2019 and the number of participants is growing by the day therefore the need for well spirited members of the public to lend them hands of support is inevitable as it is being sponsored by the members of the group through their hard earned corps members allowances.

He explained that before they wind up their service year it is hoped that the number of illiteracy will largely reduced particularly the aforementioned categories currently attending classes,he thanked the kebbi state governor Senator Atiku Bagudu for creating the enabling environment for their activities in the state.
