Following the conditional suspesion of the 8 months old strike by ASUU, the branch chairman of academic staff union of universities Kebbi state university of sceince and technology Aliero(KSUSTA), comrade Dr Ibrahim Yale has announced the conditional suspension of the nation wide strike.
Yale made this known in Birnin Kebbi shortly after the union’s congress on Monday, he said that, the state branch acted on the order of mother body to conditionally suspend the industrial action to allow academic activities in the university which will be determine by university’s council.
He further admonished the state government to meet the union’s local demands to avert local strike, he said long before the nation wide strike, the state branch have listed its local demands which are yet to be met” we expect the management of the university to show high level of maturity by meeting our demands, we are open for talks once they are ready.
He raised concerns over foot dragging by the state government over the demands of their members saying they have been patient and have exhibited a high level of understanding during the series of correspondences intimating them on their local demands.
He, however, thanked the university management for their understanding during the 8 months old strike, council of ulama, u Kebbi state for attempts to intervene, the union also appreciate Kebbi state ministry for higher education for their understanding, KDF, parents, his members for their resilience and the students.
