A federal court of appeal in sokoto state is set to give verdict on a 10 years Leadership tussle that has consumed vigilante group of Nigeria in Kebbi State and the country as a whole, vigilante group of Nigeria was rebranded in 2008 by one Alhaji Ali Sokoto now deceased before his death he was deputised by one Dr Usman Jahun from Katsina state, the rebranding brought together local hunters who were then used as area vigilante who uses dogs and spiritual powers to secure some areas in some parts of urban areas and villages, their voluntary services were meant to assist the police.
The VGN headquarters then was in Kaduna before moving to Abuja, leadership tussle started in 2009 when Dr Usman Jahun asked his boss to relinquish power to him due to old age, Jahun contended that a man of 90 years was too old to remain the commander general of vigilante group of Nigeria, dissatisfied with the claim of his deputy who had already moved the head office to Abuja and continue to parade himself as the commander general was sued by late Ali Sokoto and got a judgement in his favour by a high court in Kaduna, the court held that, late Ali Sokoto was the authentic commander general.
The judgement was swiftly appealed by Jahun by another appeal court who set aside the judgement of the high court and awarded judgement to Jahun.
However, the leadership tussle spreads to states in which Kebbi got affected as two persons are still claiming his side is the authentic, we have Sanusi Ibrahim Geza from Jahun side while lawali Augie from late Ali Sokoto each claiming is the real state commander.
According to Sanusi Geza since they have judgement on their side that was delivered by Honourable justice o. A Adefope okojie on 16th of December 2009 with case number KDH/KD/2009 they have the right to parade themselves as the genuine leaders of VGN kebbi state.
Lawal Augie the rival leader in Kebbi is in court to challenge the judgement of Kaduna court, court adresses have been concluded and the court is set to give judgement on the raging tussle.
Earlier important personalies in Kebbi made efforts to broker truce between the two but all hit brick wall including the emir of Gwandu his royal highness Illiyasu Bashar and his council members all sat with them to end the fued now the last hope of the two is Sokoto federal court of appeal that is expected to end the ten years Leadership imbroglio.
Sanusi Geza has appealed to the court to do justice on the matter as did by the other court and install him as the genuine Kebbi state commander.
