As the clock ticks towards 2023 polls where baton of leadership is expected to change hands, a group of youths in kebbi State under the aegis of Youths for Continuity and Good Leadership have unanimously endorsed Dr Nasir Idris also known as Nasiru NUT for the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Kebbi State.

Arising from their meeting which drew members from the four emirates in the state, namely Gwandu, Argungu, Yauri and Zuru, the state chairman Kabiru Muhammad Sani (Giant) said that, he is unaware of their resolve to endorse and push him to contest for the state number seat, he explained that people who does good to others without showing interest in a political office usually make good leaders, according to him after an x-ray of his sterling leadership qualities from the post he held as a core Comrade and a great Unionist its clear to all and sundry that, the society must drag such a person into the political landscape.

Idris was one time local chairman of the Nigeria union of teachers where he rose to the state chairman of same union and at the same time held the position of state chairman of the Nigeria labour congress (NLC), upon the completion of his tenure he was elected national treasurer of NUT a position he held four years before being elected as the national chairman of NUT and National vice chairman of NLC the positions he still holds till today.

Gaint stated that, the youth group were fascinated by his notable achievements as a unionist as he has been able within his tenure to secure additional retirement age for teachers as well as ensuring all teachers arrears that accrued were paid to teachers across the country.

Kabir also further said that, with Idris on the driving seat in Kebbi education will receive uttermost attention because he is a trained teacher who knows the problems of basic education in the state, in addition Dr Nasir intends to create a viable and sustainable economic blueprint that wil move the state far away from relying on federal allocation ,Sani who described Kebbi as a home of farming and tourism said Nasir will evolve ways of making the state an economic hub for other state to emulate.

His words “as a group we are not bankroll by anybody our deepest love for our dear state pushed us to appeal to him to join politicts, we also realized the state is in need of a purposeful leadership even as we know the present governor is doing his best but we now wants to bring home breed leaders politicians who knows the pains of both rural and urban dwellers”.

The group also woo the youth to join in the struggles to bring onboard people who can deliver the state from her political and economic doldrums by throwing their weight behind Dr Nasir NUT if he agrees to run for Kebbi number one seat come 2023.
