The Nigerian Labour Congress in Sokoto State has promised to ensure good working relationship with the incoming All Progressive Congress led administration in the state in the interest of the state.
The newly elected chairman of the union, Comerade Abdullahi Aliyu, stated this in his speech during this year May Day celebration held at the Gingiya memorial stadium on Monday.
Aliyu in his remarks commend the outgoing government for the development so far in the last four years. He assured the entire state civil servants in the state of quality leadership and open door policy throughout his tenure as the state NLC chairman.
He however listed some of the challenges facing the union in the state which includes none-training and re-training of existing civil servants in the state, non-payment of staff salary as scheduled.
Others according to him includes non-payment of pension and gratuity for retiring civil servants as well as non payment of remittance to unions, cooperative and others which were deducted from workers salary and not remitted to those concern for almost six months now.
Speaking his remarks, the state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, represented by the state head of service, Abubakar Muhammad, said the state government appreciate the state workforce for it’s good morals and commitment towards the development of the state.
He however assured that his administration will continue to prioritize the welfares and wellbeing of the workers in the state.
He said as part of his programme for the state workers, his administration recently initiated Motorcycle loan scheme which was distributed to the workers in the state in order to ease their daily transportation to and from office to enable them discharge their duties efficiently.
