Few hours after the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress announced dissolution of the National Working Committee NWC and the setting up of a National caretaker committee, the sacked NWC has threatened legal action against the party.

In a statement jointly signed by Hilliard Etta who continues to identify himself as the acting National Chairman, and Waziri Bulama identified as acting National Secretary along with 15 other members, the sacked NWC described Thursday’s NEC meeting as illegal and a breach of the party’s constitution

The group insists that Victor Giadom lacks the authority to convene a meeting of the NEC of the party

Citing article 25(b) of the APC constitution, the members of the dissolved NWC maintain that “only the National Chairman of the National Working Committee NWC  is given the prerogative of summoning meetings of the National Executive Committee of the party either for statutory quarterly meetings or for emergency meetings”

It says it is still considering the Victor Giadom initiated NEC meeting where far reaching resolutions were reached and will be “consulting with stakeholders and its legal experts on the next line of action”
