The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken decisive action against two unapproved chemical and water companies operating in Nasarawa State, sealing their facilities due to concerns over falsified and adulterated products.
In an interview with journalists, NAFDAC’s State Coordinator, Matthew Adeoye, revealed that the agencies’ regulatory officers, acting on intelligence reports, raided the facilities during routine surveillance activities. They discovered that the companies were manufacturing adulterated agrochemicals and an unapproved packaged table water in unhygienic environments without proper registration.
Adeoye emphasized that such illegal operations violated the NAFDAC Act and posed serious risks to consumers and the agricultural sector. The perpetrators apprehended during the raid have been handed over to the police for further investigation.
The sealed facilities will remain prohibited from further production, with their equipment confiscated by NAFDAC. Adeoye urged the public to report any activities of unregistered producers, distributors, and retailers of adulterated products, emphasizing the importance of compliance with NAFDAC regulations to avoid legal consequences or business closure.
