The National Assembly Legislative Aides Chairman Alhaji Salisu Zuru has appealed to the leadership of the National Assembly and Commission to work hard and ensure that their salaries and other allowances had be paid when due.

He stated this yesterday while fielding questions from newsmen in Birnin Kebbi adding that is the responsibilities of the National Assembly Commission and the entire Management to improved on the legislative aides welfare package.

Zuru who was reelected for the second terms promised that his administration will bring an end to the welfare of all its members in the both lower and upper chamber, pointed out that he will continue to support it’s people by putting smiles into their faces.

Salisu who is an indigene of Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State was emerged as the Chairman of the National Assembly legislative aides last week while pulled a total of 29 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr. Patrick Okuneh who pulled a total of 19 votes.

“I thank all those that voted me and those that did not but my major priority is to ensure that the welfare of all aides is put at the centre of every discussion with the management and the commission. He vowed to challenge the status-quo to correct the irregularities associated with the lack of a specific date for the payment of aides salaries and other allowances” he added.

He added further that as part of his mission and vision, the aides must be elevated and accepted as part and parcel of the National Assembly formation  since they play a pivotal role within the system.

” my victory was from God which I have never thought of it being a personal victory, I have always being a man of the people, and this victory is for the people and for the generality of the aides regardless of their locations throughout the country” Salisu said.

Zuru who further expressed his gratitude to all National Assembly aides for their support, prayers and good wishes during and after the elections. He equally extends a hand of fellowship to his compatriots who contested against him stating that he’s office will always be open to welcome their ideas and suggestions in moving the National Assembly Legislative Aide Forum forward.

“It’s also my pleasure to sincerely thank all the CWC members who overwhelmly returned us as the Chairman of our great Forum. Let me reassure you, that the mandate given to us, is held as a sacred trust. And we shall, at all times strive to do good by all Legislative Aides” he added.

We remain committed to our vision to transform all cadres of legislatives aides into an enviable and significant support service to the National Assembly. Our passion for service has been re-invigorated  by your overwhelming endorsement. And with your support, we shall succeed.

I thank the National Assembly Service Commission, the National Assembly  management and it’s security apparatus. You all have indeed shown us more love and understanding than we can appreciate. I thank you.

Let me particularly mention my fellow contestants who showed uncommon magnanimity in readily embracing our victory. You are all great men. And I thank you. Your advise and counsel shall always be sought in our determination to leave a lasting legacy for the Forum. The victory is indeed that of NASSLAF.

As we are all aware, having lost so much time, we intend to hit the ground running. I therefore call on all hands to be on deck, as we collectively work towards the transformation of our dear forum.
