In response to the late-night invasion of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, the NLC leadership has called for an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting to be held tomorrow at 4 pm. The meeting, which will be conducted virtually, aims to determine the appropriate response to the incident and address related concerns.

The invasion, carried out by heavily armed policemen and others in plainclothes, saw the security forces ransacking the second and tenth floors of the Labour House. Reports indicate that the officers broke into offices and a bookshop on the second floor, seizing materials they claimed were used to incite and organize recent protests.

The Labour Writers Association of Nigeria (LAWAN) has condemned the invasion, joining a growing list of organizations and individuals expressing concern over the security agents’ actions.

The emergency NEC meeting is expected to address the invasion’s implications and discuss further steps to safeguard the interests of the NLC and its members.
