The Chairman of Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), Sokoto State chapter, Comerade Isa Abubakar Shuni, has advised Sokoto State government not to renege on its agreement with contractors handling various developmental project in the state.
The Chairman stated this when he led members of the union in the state to the construction site of Government Girls Science Academy, Kasarawa, in Wamakko local government area of the state.
He commended the contractor on the level of job done so far in the site, which he described as excellent.
While calling on the state government to always honour the contractual agreement reached with the firm, the chairman challenge the firm not to compromise quality in their work.
He called on the firm to also know that the project when completed will serve the interest of everyone in the state.
Meanwhile, the managing director of CALDAR Construction Nigeria Limited, handling the school project, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Sariki, says his firm has achieve about 40 percent of the target.
While taking journalist round the site, Sariki assures that the 18 months target given to the company will not be fully utilised before the completion of the project.
He said the firm is doing everything humanly possible to deliver on the project on or before May 29, 2021, and handed over same to the state government.
He said the schools project when completed will consist of two blocks of classrooms where each of the block has 18 classrooms.
“Each of the room is designed to accommodate 40 students, with a provision for disable students as well.
” It also includes a library which will be computerized, different laboratories, CBT centre, auditorium, Clinics among others.
“We also have a provision for a student hostels, which is two blocks and each of the block will have a provision for 300 bed space and it’s to be constructed on 120m of land” he disclosed.
The Managing Director also disclosed that not less that five different boreholes has already been constructed on the land to make provision of portable water for the prospective students.
He said other times to be constructed within the school includes two mosque, Staff quarters, NYSC lodge as well as other things.
