NUJ Tasks Contractors Handling Sokoto Government Projects To Maintain Quality

The Nigerian Union of Journalists, Sokoto State chapter has commended contractors handling the construction of Sokoto State University Teaching Hospital as well as Government Science Academy, both in Kasarawa area of Sokoto metropolis.
The chairman of the union in the state, Comerade Isa Abubakar Shuni, while addressing newsmen shortly after inspecting the projects on Monday, disclosed that the contractor has not in anyway compromised quality.
He explained that since the projects commenced, the state chapter of the union has been monitoring the level of work as it is been done to ensure that citizens and residents of the state get quality projects.
“This is the third time that we have been coming here to put you on your toes in this gigantic project and I am pleased to tell you that so far, we are fully satisfied with what we see on ground.
“My only advice on behalf of working journalists in the state is for you to maintain the quality and deliver this project as scheduled”
Earlier in his remarks, the consulting architect in charge of Government Science Academy,
explained that the school will be delivered on scheduled.
He said the contract was supposed to run for twenty months out of which about seventeen months has been put into the projects.
He said the projects which he said is at 70 percent completed will be delivered to the state government within the next three months.
Also speaking, the projects supervisor of the state University teaching hospital, who spoke on behalf Dotline Architects, Architect Abdulhameed Yahuza Mainasara, described the level of work done at the teaching hospital as above average.
He explained that the state government has reviewed the contract of the teaching hospital by adding some other projects which were not in the original plan of the hospital.
He assured that the 30 months agreement signed with the state government to deliver the project still sacrosanct.
He said to ensure the job is delivered as scheduled and not ready to compromise quality of the job, not less than 1,000 workers of different field were employed to work on the site on daily.
Meanwhile, the state teaching hospital which is a 950 bed capacity, when completed will also boast of different wards as well as visiting Doctors lodge, corpers lodge, auditorium as well as radiology.
The teaching hospital according to the officials of Dotline company, also include a space for helipad where air ambulance can land in case of emergency case.
Other facilities apart from the normal bed space also includes VIP as well as VVIP lodges which posses all the qualities of a standard suite. It also includes accommodation for the CMD and other senior staffs within the premises of the hospital.
