The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced plans to mobilise no fewer than 650,000 graduates for the compulsory one-year service programme in 2026.
NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye, disclosed this in Abuja during the 7th National Day of Identity organised by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

He noted that about 400,000 corps members were mobilised in 2025, highlighting the crucial role of a secure National Identity Database in the mobilisation process.

Oluseye explained that the integration of National Identity Numbers (NIN) has strengthened transparency and curbed fraud, citing past attempts at multiple registrations that were exposed through the system.

He commended the NYSC–NIMC collaboration, stressing that the reforms have eliminated fake enrolments and made mobilisation more efficient.
