The ParenTeen Parliament joined the world to celebrate the World Science Day for Peace and Development geared towards promotion of peace . The event which featured teenagers drawn from various parts of the country dwelt on the topic “How can science be used to bring about global peace and sustainable development “.

The convener of the program and Visioner for the ParenTeen Parliament, Mr. Uko Okore Uko noted that the teenagers were involved as agents of positive change and to inculcate in them the ideals of peaceful coexistence in their communities.

The teenagers who belong to the Teens Parliament Club  (Youth wing of the ParenTeen Parliament ) were able to effectively discuss the issues surrounding global peace and how to use science as a vehicle to entrench global peace and sustainable development.  The discussion ranged from innovations in science and technology,  ecotourism, humanities and culture which the teenagers established as veritable tools to achieve global peace and sustainable development.

The teenagers who were involved in the discussion include : David Yinkere (Abuja), Ireoluwa Sodeko (Ibadan), Amazing Laughter Eke (Awka), Salome Joseph Udom  (Birnin Kebbi), Dorcas Chinedu Ugochinyere (Niger State ).

The program which held on Zoom also had Mr. David Folaranmi -the Presiding Director, David Folaranmi Foundation, Mrs Biboara Yinkere- Convener, Engraced Parents and Mrs Stella Obokoh- Convener,  Answering Tough Questions from Children and Teenagers  (ATQ from C & Ts) in attendance among many other dignitaries . They were unanimous in their contributions that the foundation for Peace begins from the home.

While admonishing the teenagers, Mr Uko O Uko charged them to practice peaceful coexistence wherever they are found while leveraging on technological inventions and breakthroughs to reach out to others.

Mr. Uko also said the ParenTeen Parliament and Teens Parliament Club will continue to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as it affects raising wholesome teenagers through parental guidance and family cohesion.
