Motorists and commuters in Sokoto State have continued to lament the continuous scarcity of premium motor spirits popularly petrol within the metropolis, with a Litre of the products now goes for an average of N280.

Our correspondents who monitored the proceedings in the state gathered that most of the major marketers including A.A Rano, Total, Matrix, Oando as well as NNPC mega stations were some.of the few filling stations dispensing fuels once in a while with a very long que.

Meanwhile, a litre of fuel from some of the independent marketers in the state goes for between 275 and 285 naira while black marketers also sell a four Litre gallon between N1,200 and N1,300 depending on the area.

Some motorists who spoke with our correspondent condemned attitude of the major marketers in the state, accusing them of diverting fuel meant for their stations  for selfish interest.

Alhaji Nasir Bello, a driver with state transport cooperation described the situation of the fuel in the state as worrisome.

He said, “what amazes me most is why is it always difficult for the major marketers not having fuel to dispense while the independent marketers continue to dispense.

“The most annoying part is that of black market filling stations which has never cease to sell fule since when this scarcity began”

Also speaking, Mr Yahaya Sa’idu, also a commercial driver plying Sokoto – Kebbi road, appeal to government at all levels to enforce price of the products in the state.

He said the scarcity of the products, which has remained scarce for over six months now has been affecting their markets in a negative way, saying commuters have been complaining against hike in price of transport fare.
