The Kebbi State Police Command has effected the arrest one corporal Saidu Adamu who was said to be on a rescue mission at sir Yahya memorial specialist hospital in Birnin Kebbi, the incident happened on Monday afternoon when motorcycle thief was caught in the hospital attempting to steal a machine, following a tip off the police quickly mobilised to the scene to rescue the thief from being killed by angry large members of Okada riders ,while trying to disperse the crowd the police officer accidentally shot one Habibu Muhammed 25 years of age from Birnin Kebbi local government area of Kebbi, the victim was an onlooker and a fruit seller.
The state police image maker DSP Nafiu Abubakar has confirmed both the shooting and the arrest of erring police officer and the motorcycle thief who he said are being detained at the state criminal investigation department for deep investigation.
However, the executive governor of Kebbi State immediately visited the place where he met the victim gushing blood, the gravity of injury is beyond sir Yahya so the victim was immediately referred to Usmanu Dan fodio university teaching hospital for prompt medical attention on the order of governor Bagudu who also released undisclosed sum of money for his continuous treatment while in Sokoto, Bagudu also promised to foot all the medical bills of the victim who is now responding to treatment as confirmed by the police.
Normalcy had since returned in the state capital, while CP Ogudiade Oluyeme thanked the people of the state for abiding by the laws he promised to make public the investigation.
