Protesters in Abuja took to the streets on Saturday, August 10, 2024, as part of the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests. Despite heavy police and military presence at key locations like the MKO Abiola National Stadium, the City Gate, and Eagle Square, the protesters successfully gathered in large numbers at two different venues, Apo and Lokogoma districts, as early as 7 a.m.

Carrying placards with messages like “End Hunger” and “Reverse Fuel Subsidy Removal,” the protesters continued their call for change, marking the tenth day of demonstrations that began on August 1.

The protests have seen moments of tension, particularly when hoodlums hijacked the movement, leading to looting, destruction of infrastructure, and attacks on motorists. In several Northern states, including Kano, Zamfara, Kaduna, and Bauchi, the situation escalated with some demonstrators waving foreign flags and calling for a regime change—a move widely condemned by Nigerians, the Armed Forces, and the protest organizers themselves.

Despite these challenges, the protesters remain resolute in their demands for an end to economic hardship and a reversal of the government’s recent fuel subsidy removal.
